Trading Policy
The Newark & Nottinghamshire Agricultural Society is an independent charity whose aim is to promote, celebrate and champion agriculture across the region. In order to fund its charitable activities, the Society owns and runs Newark Showground, through a trading subsidiary, as a busy, commercial events venue.
The Society operates an open, inclusive and progressive lettings policy, making its facilities available for hire to a broad range of organisations whose activities are lawful and for a wide variety of events that do not conflict directly with the Society’s charitable purposes and commercial requirements.
Events which are held at the Showground are formally contracted and the conditions under which events take place, including the requirement to operate peacefully and legitimately in compliance with local and national legislation, licencing, planning, organisation, site operational and security requirements, publicity and the ability of either party to amend the contract, are defined accordingly.
With the exception of those events the Society itself promotes, in its capacity purely as a venue operator it neither condones/endorses, nor censures/condemns lawful events and activities hosted here by third-party organisers.
